1. Cutting the Film in Positive Mode
- Before cutting, set your cutting machine to positive (non-mirrored) mode. This step is essential, as the design must be applied right-side up to ensure it is correctly oriented once transferred onto the textile.
- Use a flex blade suitable for cutting heat transfer vinyl and carefully adjust the blade depth according to the thickness of the material. This ensures a clean cut without damaging the polyester backing layer.
- Make sure the blade settings are optimized for precision, especially for fine details in the design. We recommend performing a test cut before starting production.
2. Weeding
- After cutting, proceed with weeding by removing the excess material around the cut design.
- Use suitable tools, such as a weeding hook or tweezers, for precise weeding, making sure that only the desired design remains on the polyester backing.
- Make sure that all small details of the design are preserved and that all excess material is cleanly removed.
3. Transferring the Design with Application Tape
- Use the application tape provided to transfer the cut design onto the textile. Please note: do not use any other application tape, as it may be too strong and could damage the design.
4. Positioning and Transferring the Design onto the Textile
- Place the textile on the heat press, making sure that the surface is clean.
- Position the design (with its polyester backing still in place) on the desired area of the textile.
- Protect the design with silicone paper to prevent direct contact between the heated platen of the press and the polyester film.
- Set the heat press to 155°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 20 seconds. The combination of heat, time, and pressure ensures that the design adheres properly to the textile.
5. Hot Peel of the Polyester Backing
- Once pressing is complete, immediately remove the polyester backing while hot, peeling it away gently to ensure that the design remains securely in place.
By following these steps, you will achieve a professional-quality, durable design that is properly applied to the textile.
- Strictly follow the care instructions specified on the garment: The specific recommendations for the textile to which the film has been applied must be followed to ensure its durability.
- Wait 24 hours before the first wash: This allows the film to properly adhere to the fabric and helps prevent premature peeling or deterioration.
- Iron on the reverse side only: To protect the transfer and prevent damage from direct heat, the garment must always be ironed inside out.
- Storage: The film must be stored under optimal conditions, i.e. vertically, away from direct sunlight and moisture, for a maximum period of one year. Improper storage may affect the film’s properties, such as its adhesion or elasticity.
- Washing: The garment can be washed at a maximum temperature of 80°C, and it is recommended to wash it inside out to prevent the transfer from being directly exposed to friction, which could damage it.
- Do not use harsh chemicals: Bleach-based detergents or other harsh chemicals may damage the film and affect its durability.
- Tumble drying: Tumble drying is permitted, but it is recommended to check whether the textile itself is suitable for tumble drying.
- Dry cleaning: Not recommended. Dry cleaning may affect the quality of the transfer.
These recommendations are essential to ensure the quality and longevity of the print on the customized textile.
