1. Preparation of the Design Print
- Prepare the graphic file ensuring it is set up in the correct orientation (not mirrored, as the final transfer will be directly applied).
- Configure the printer according to the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer for the type of flex or vinyl used.
2. Checking Print and Drying Temperatures
- Ensure that the printing temperature is correctly set to allow proper ink application on the flex.
- Make sure the ink drying temperature is also set correctly. This step is crucial to fix the ink without causing smudges or print defects.
3. Using the Print Profile
- Select the appropriate print profile for the type of flex used and the inks to ensure accurate color reproduction and optimal drying.
4. Drying After Printing
- Once printing is complete, carefully remove the flex from the printer.
- Allow the flex to dry at room temperature for at least 4 hours. This drying time ensures that the inks are properly set before handling or cutting the material.
5. Weeding
- After drying, proceed with weeding by removing the excess material around the printed design.
- Use weeding tools to precisely remove unwanted parts, especially if the design has fine details.
6. Transferring the Design with Application Tape
- Use a specific application tape to transfer the printed design onto the textile. Do not use paper application tape as it may burn under the heat.
- Position the design on the desired area of the textile, ensuring correct alignment.
7. Pressing the Marking onto the Textile
- Place the textile on the heat press, ensuring it is properly positioned and the application area is clean.
- Position the flex (with the application tape still in place) on the desired area of the textile.
- Protect the marking with a silicone paper to prevent direct contact between the heat press platen and the polyester film.
- Quick Mode (for standard textiles)
- Set the heat press to a temperature of 140°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 5 seconds. This step ensures the flex adheres securely to the fabric.
- You can remove the polyester backing when it is warm or cold, ensuring the flex marking stays firmly attached to the textile. Gently pulling the backing at a low angle reduces the risk of lifting.
- Low Temperature (for sensitive textiles)
- Set the heat press to a temperature of 120°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 20 seconds. This step ensures the flex adheres securely to the fabric.
- You can remove the polyester backing when it is warm or cold, ensuring the flex marking stays firmly attached to the textile. Gently pulling the backing at a low angle reduces the risk of lifting.
- Nylon (2-step pressing)
- 1st Pressing: Set the heat press to a temperature of 140°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 5 seconds. Remove the polyester film while it is still warm after this initial pressing.
- 2nd Pressing: Set the heat press to a temperature of 140°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 15 seconds to ensure a durable fixation of the design on nylon.
By following these step-by-step instructions, you will achieve a high-quality, durable transfer that is perfectly fixed on the textile, whether it’s standard materials, sensitive fabrics, or nylon.
- Follow the care instructions specified on the garment: The recommendations for the fabric on which the film has been applied must be followed to ensure its durability.
- Wait 24 hours before the first wash: This allows the film to properly adhere to the fabric and prevents it from peeling off or deteriorating prematurely.
- Iron only on the reverse side: To protect the transfer and avoid damage from direct heat, it is essential to iron the garment inside out.
- Storage: The film should be stored in optimal conditions, namely in an upright position, away from direct light and humidity, for a maximum of one year. Improper storage may alter the film’s properties, such as its adhesion or elasticity.
- Washing: The garment can be washed at a maximum temperature of 60°C for cotton fabrics, and 40°C for nylon fabrics. It is recommended to wash it inside out to prevent the transfer from being exposed to friction, which could damage it.
- Do not use harsh products: Detergents containing bleach or other aggressive chemicals can deteriorate the film and affect its durability.
- Tumble drying: Tumble drying is allowed, but it is advisable to check if the fabric is compatible with this drying method.
- Dry cleaning: Not recommended. Dry cleaning could alter the quality of the transfer.
These recommendations are essential to ensure the quality and longevity of the marking on personalized textiles.
